PRO TOOLS

COMMIT down VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS, MIDI TRACKS and any additional fx auxes. leave all automation and inserts intact. GO TO FILE - SAVE COPY IN. Under “items to copy” make sure audio files is selected. Send over the new copy of the session

LOGIC PRO

For the wet stems, go to file - export all tracks as audio files. Save as a wave file. Make sure bypass Effect plug-ins is Not selected and include volume/pan automation is selected. Normalize should be set to off.

For the dry stems, repeat the process but select bypass effect plug-ins and de-select include volume/pan automation. normalize should be set to off. Create a new session and make sure your files are playing back correctly

ALL OTHER DAWS

For all other daws, please send all tracks exported as audio files. For vocals, i prefer to receive a copy of the lead vocals totally dry (except for auto tune or melodyne) as well as processed with fx.

PLEASE export stacks of strings, background vocals, horns, etc as a stereo track. This will ensure all panning / automation remains intact.
